Local advantage

Being twenty minutes away is not just a nice detail

Our Hummers are kept at Arlesey, which is closer to Bedford than to anywhere else we cover.

A short positioning run means the vehicle is not tied up crossing two counties before it reaches you. In practice that means three things for Bedford bookings: we will take late finishes that we would think twice about further out; we can sometimes handle split pick-ups across town on the same evening; and a Bedford quote carries less positioning cost than the same job in Kettering or London.

It also means that if something goes wrong on the day, and occasionally it does, because these are vehicles, we are twenty minutes from being able to do something about it rather than an hour and a half.

Getting around Bedford

Where a stretch works, and where it does not

The town centre one-way system

The loop around the town centre is manageable, but the streets inside it are not built for a thirty-foot vehicle waiting at a kerb. For collections and drop-offs near the High Street or Silver Street we agree a point on the through road rather than pretending otherwise.

The Embankment

The river frontage is the best spot in Bedford for wedding and prom photographs with a Hummer, and there is room to stand the vehicle properly. It is the location we suggest most often when someone asks where the pictures should happen.

Residential streets

Queens Park, Castle Road and the older terraced streets have cars parked both sides and no room to turn. Kempston, Brickhill, Putnoe and the newer estates are generally fine. Send us the postcode and we will tell you before you book, not on the night.

Priory Marina and Bedford Park

Both have space and both come up regularly for daytime bookings and photographs.

What Bedford books

The bookings we take here most

Nights out, in Bedford and out of it

A good share of Bedford groups do not stay in Bedford. Milton Keynes, Northampton and London are all comfortable runs, and a sixteen-seat Hummer makes the journey part of the night rather than the boring bit before it. If the evening ends somewhere other than where it started, say so at quote stage.

Weddings

The white stretch Hummer for the party, the black Hummer H2 for the groom. Bedfordshire has a good spread of country-house and barn venues, and this is where the honest conversation about access matters most, a long gravel approach with a tight turning head is a problem for a thirty-foot vehicle and not for the H2.

Proms

Bedford and Kempston schools cluster their prom dates in exactly the same fortnight as everyone else, which is why those Fridays are the first to go across the whole fleet.

Birthdays and hen nights

The pink Hummer, more often than not. It is the vehicle people picture when they picture this.

Bedford FAQs

Questions from Bedford bookings

Are you actually based near Bedford?

Our vehicles are kept at Arlesey, about twenty minutes south on the A6 and A507. We are not a national booking service listing Bedford as a coverage area.

Can the Hummer get down my street?

In Kempston, Brickhill, Putnoe and the newer estates, usually yes. On the older terraced streets nearer the centre, often not, and we will tell you that when you send the postcode rather than after you have paid.

How many can the Hummers take?

Sixteen seated in either stretch Hummer, four plus the driver in the Hummer H2, and eight in the GMC Typhoon stretch.

Can you do a late finish?

More readily here than anywhere else we cover, precisely because the run back to the yard is short. Tell us the finish time you actually want rather than the one you think we will accept.

What else do you run in Bedford?

Party buses, the Lincoln stretch limousine and wedding cars, see the Bedford limo hire page or the full fleet.
