A stretch Hummer is the wrong vehicle for a Luton Airport transfer
We get asked about this constantly, so here is the straight answer rather than the one that wins the booking.
London Luton Airport’s drop-off is built for taxis and private cars. A thirty-foot stretch Hummer does not belong on that forecourt, and any operator who tells you otherwise has not tried it with luggage and a queue behind them.
What we do instead depends on what you actually want. If the point is the transfer, one of our standard-length vehicles is the sensible choice and we will say so. If the point is the arrival, a group flying in for a wedding, a birthday surprise, a stag or hen party being collected in style, we agree a meeting point away from the terminal and the Hummer does exactly what you hired it for. Tell us which of those it is when you enquire and the quote will make sense.
Where the Hummers work locally
Collection points
Home collections across Bramingham, Stopsley, Leagrave, Barton Hills and Bushmead are routine, as are Dunstable and Houghton Regis. In the town centre we use The Mall and the surrounding main roads rather than the tighter one-way sections behind them.
Photographs
Wardown Park and Stockwood Park both have room to stand a thirty-foot vehicle properly, which most places in the town centre do not. They are where we suggest the prom and wedding pictures happen.
Weddings
Luton Hoo is the venue we are asked about most in this area, and both the approach and the grounds are comfortable for a stretch Hummer. The black Hummer H2 works well alongside it for the groom’s car.
Nights out
Luton groups travel, London, Milton Keynes and Watford are the usual destinations, and we route around the M1 rather than the A5. Junctions 10, 10a and 11 all feed the town and the choice between them makes a real difference on a Friday evening.
Matching the vehicle to the job
Pink Hummer H2 Stretch
Sixteen seated. Hen nights and eighteenth birthdays, near enough without exception. The first vehicle to go for the peak prom Fridays, so book early if your date is fixed.
Stretch Hummer
Sixteen seated in white. Weddings, and groups who want the size without the colour. Two vehicles from us on the same day is straightforward if your party needs it.
Hummer H2
Four passengers plus the driver, standard wheelbase, registration H25 BAS. The one that fits on an ordinary Luton driveway and the sensible choice for an airport arrival.
GMC Typhoon Stretch
Eight seats. The middle ground when sixteen is too many and four is too few, and easier to place on the tighter streets off Dunstable Road.
Questions from Luton bookings
Can you collect from Luton Airport in a Hummer?
We can meet you near the airport, but not on the terminal forecourt, it is not built for a thirty-foot vehicle. For a straight transfer we would suggest a standard-length car instead, and we will tell you that rather than take the booking and disappoint you.
How far are you from Luton?
Our yard is at Arlesey, roughly twenty to twenty-five minutes north of Luton on the A6 and A507. That short run is why we can take later finishes here than further out.
Do you cover Dunstable and Houghton Regis?
Yes, and they are routine rather than exceptional. Prom season across Luton and Dunstable falls in the same fortnight, so the same Fridays get busy.
How many people fit?
Sixteen seated in either stretch Hummer, eight in the GMC Typhoon and four plus the driver in the Hummer H2. Those are licensed figures and we do not exceed them.
What else do you run in Luton?
Party buses, the Lincoln stretch and wedding cars. The Luton limo hire page covers the wider service, or see the full fleet.
